The UEFA Champions League is one of the world's biggest and most prestigious international football competitions bringing together some of Europe’s top clubs, all vying to be crowned champions of Europe. Taking place from August to May each year, this tournament pits the 32 best teams in Europe against one another for the UCL trophy.

In order to qualify for the Champions League, a club must finish in one of the allocated CL qualification positions. This varies by league, but the strongest divisions – the English Premier League, German Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga, and Italian Serie A, each have four spots for their top-ranking clubs. Team can also qualify by winning the UEFA Europa League, the previous years’ Champions League, or (for lower-ranked European leagues) by making their way through the qualifying rounds. The CL is an incredibly popular competition and teams are heavily incentivised by the publicity and prize money on offer and frequently put a great deal of effort into becoming a part of the UEFA Champions League Fixtures.
