Newcastle United compete in the Premier League and are amongst the oldest active football clubs worldwide. They are affectionately referred to as ‘The Magpies’ due to their black and white striped jerseys and play their home games at St. James' Park which has been their home since 1892. Newcastle United have seen somewhat mixed fortunes in recent years with the club being relegated to the EFL Championship at the end of the 2015/16 season before a dominant display in the second division took them straight back to the Premier League the following year. In more recent seasons and after a club takeover in 2021, NUFC cemented their place as a top club with a fourth-place finish in 2022/23 which took them to their first Champions League place since the early 2000s.

As is the case with most teams in the EFL, Newcastle United frequently play on the weekend with Saturday games being especially common. However, some fixtures also take place during weekdays on Mondays, Tuesdays or Fridays. NUFC may also play an extra fixture on certain weeks due to European or cup competitions.
